They must work for and/or own a business entity in Texas whose primary business is the application, installation and/or repair of roofs.
They must be in good standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
They must hold and maintain General Liability Insurance (note: always call the agency listed on the contractor's certificate of insurance to ensure that their insurance is still current - learn more)
They must agree to comply with licensing requirements if enacted by the state of Texas.
They must follow the NTRCA Code of Ethics.
All members must be recommended by a current contractor member and by a current associate member.
NOTE: If a roofer SAYS they are an NTRCA member, please check the NTRCA website to make sure they truly are. With the recent storms, we are seeing more and more contractors using our logo and saying they are members, but they are not.

BUILDING OWNERS/PROPERTY MANAGERS - Hiring a Commercial Roofing Contractor
In Texas, anyone can call themselves a roofing company. There is no state licensing for roofing contractors, and insurance is not required. It is left to building owners and property managers to ensure that they are hiring a roofing contractor that is qualified, reputable, experienced and properly insured. Beware of disreputable contractors who have little to no experience applying the type of roofing solution you need, use substandard products, are not adequately insured, do not follow required safety protocols and/or leave you without a proper warranty or in violation of building codes.
